| The General Investment Authority has been supervising the construction of Jazan Economic City, in a strategic location on the Red Sea, 60 km north of the city of Jazan. The City is expected to attract over one hundred million Saudi Riyals of private investment from assorted sectors and will contribute to the provision of 500,000 jobs, directly and indirectly. The City is focused on heavy, energy-intensive industries and will also welcome assorted secondary industries, especially in the agricultural and fishing fields. The City plans to become a regional center for the export of iron ore and pellets to the Middle East.
It consists of a number of integrated elements including a port, an industrial estate, logistical services, a power station, a water desalination and refrigeration plant, residential areas, an island business center, a Center of Civilization, a Corniche and sea front maritime district.
