King Abdulaziz New International Airport

The King Abdulaziz New International Airport is envisaged as boosting the economy of Jeddah and of Saudi Arabia in general, turning the city into a global hub. The three-phase project, with an annual capacity of 70-80 million passengers per year using over three runways, will be completed in 2035. Main facilities include 670m2 of passenger terminals, 46 boarding gates, connected to 94 boarding tracks, world-class departure terminals designed, a hotel and shopping centers.
Passengers are transported automatically from check-in to the departures lounges. The modern transportation systems include a railway network for passengers and a sophisticated baggage handling system with more than 60 Km of belts. The airport features the most up-to-date air traffic control system housed in its uniquely-designed 136m tall control tower, the tallest in the world. A network of broad roads and tunnels links the airport to surroundings. Support facilities, a fueling station and a central nursery and landscaping service are also part of the plan.
