The largest construction project in the Kingdom, the King Abdullah Economic City has adopted a modern architectural style to emerge as one of the most important economic cities in the world. The City will be home to nearly two million people, and will take about 20 years to complete. Construction began in 2006 and is expected to end in 2025.
The first stage extends over a period of 5 years from 2006 until 2011. Ultimately, the KAEC will include a seaport, an industrial zone, a central business district, a resorts and facilities area, residential neighborhoods, and scientific and research institutions.
