The agreement is called “An Agreement to Protect Producers of Phonograms from Unauthorized Reproduction of their Phonograms.” It is one of the international agreements in the field of intellectual property, and it relates specifically to sound recordings. Where a phonogram means (sound recording) according to Article 1 of the Convention: It is every sound fixation - exclusively - of sounds that are related to a performance or other sounds. The Phonograms Agreement provides for the obligation of each Contracting State to protect any producer of phonograms who is a national of another Contracting State from making any copies without his consent, from distributing them to the public, and from importing them, if the import is for the purpose of distribution to the public.
