KACST completes 2nd phase of Internet protocol version 6 (IPv6)

Riyadh - Internet Services Unit in King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) has completed all the procedures of second phase of implementation of Internet protocol version 6 of (IPv6) in the network unit, and it is possible to browse the sites of such issuance.
The Vice-Rector of (KACST) for support scientific research, Dr. Abdullah bin Ahmed Al-Rashid, according to "Al-Yuam" newspaper, said  that the Internet unit in the city is the first in the kingdom in applying the new protocol , as it is  also the first in the Middle East,  and that the unit was completed successfully in the middle of last 2008, the first phase, which aimed to support all network devices "Routers" and "Switches" with new protocol, pointing out that the unit will provide many new services based on this Protocol to all users, will support the universities in this field, to speed the application of this project.
Al-Rashid  pointed out that the application of Internet protocol version 6 (IPv6) will solve the problem of limited addresses in the current version applicable in all parts of the world, in addition to many other benefits that it has.
