Based on a field survey conducted by the Nanotechnology Institute in Spain to investigate whether proper scientific procedures are adopted, KAU Center of Nanotechnology (CNT) has been listed among the best 500 nanotechnology laboratories around the world.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Dr. Sami Saeed Habib, CNT Director, pointed out that the CNT, a national center of excellence in the field of Nanotechnology, was established in 1427-2006 in line with the international trends in the nanotechnology field and within KAU's strenuous efforts to achieve a superior educational status.
The idea of establishing a KAU specialist nanotechnology center emerged on the first of Muharram 1427. A resolution was made by KAU Senate on 1/6/1427 recommending the establishment of nanotechnology center.
On 18/1/1428, the Supreme Council of Universities adopted Resolution No. 16/5/1428 in its 45th meeting approving the establishment of a KAU nanotechnology center.
On 23/3/148, the resolution was finally approved by King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and Chairman of the Supreme Council of Universities.
Prof Adnan Hamza Mohammed Zahid, KAU Vice Rector for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, expressed his gratitude to Prof Osama S. Tayyeb, KAU Rector, for his continuous support to the CNT and its researchers.
