GCC Monetary agencies and central banks meet in Muscat

E-Media: The forty-eighth meeting of the GCC monetary agencies and central banks Governors Committee kicks off in the Omani capital, Muscat today. His Excellency Abdulrahman bin Hamad al-Attiyah, the Secretary General of Gulf Cooperation Council, stated that this meeting will discuss a number of important issues related to joint work between the countries in relation with economic issues, as reported by Saudi Press Agency. He added that the meeting will consider what has been achieved on the monetary union and topics related to payments system, common regulatory and supervisory legislation, necessary consolidation, alternative communications networks linking, payment transactions and point-of-sale document. He also noted that the meeting will discuss the actions taken by the GCC countries to face the repercussions of the global financial crisis, and review of the most important recent financial and monetary developments in member states.
