KSA gained two bronze medals in the mathematics Olympics held in the Netherland during last July. This achievement is a result of close cooperation between Ministry of Education and King Abdul Aziz Talent and Innovation Institution.
In his letter to the kingdom’s leaders, the deputy minister of education Dr. Khaled Al-Sibti lauded this achievement. He said competitions are means for discovering future scientists and mathematicians.
According to the deputy minister, the kingdom’s objective is become within the world 20% best nations in science within the coming years. The kingdom’s rating improved from the lowest 3% to the best 70% nations during the last two years.
The deputy minister stated that the kingdom achieved the second position at the level of the Arab countries. Morocco ranked 62 while it has joined the Olympics since 1983.
Dr. Abdul Aziz Harthi, the general supervisor of the international Olympics project, stated that Saudi Arabia is having a prominent role now in this and other similar contests. Earlier participations of the kingdom included physics Olympic in Malaysia and chemistry Olympic in Turkey.
The first mathematics Olympic was held in Romania in 1959 with only seven competing nations.
