Shoura Council imposes charges on white land lots lying within urban zones, calls considering the voting of women in municipal elections

Riyadh, SPA: In its 38th ordinary session, presided over here yesterday by it Speaker Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh, the Shoura Council approved a bill to impose annual financial charges on white land lots lying within urban zones in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Council also called for taking the necessary measures to allow women to take part as voters in municipal elections according to Sharia law and to what the State would see within its scope for the public interest. Following the meeting, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, the Secretary General of the Shoura Council, said the members approved with majority a report presented by the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, underscoring the importance of implementing a comprehensive plan to solve the flood and rains drainage problem, including the prevention of building habits at valley streams. The Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs Prince Mansour bin Miteb bin Abdulaziz attended the meeting and took part in answering the members' enquiries. Discussion on the performance of the General Auditing Bureau was adjourned for a future session.
