Riyadh, e-Media: Saudi Post has been attempting to launch its e-Market during the coming weeks to be the first of its kind especially that this is regarded as one of the vital initiatives in disseminating e-Trade applications. Dr. Mohamed bin Saleh bin Taher Bentin, president of Saudi Post announced this during both the International Identity and Post Innovations Conferences in Abu Dhabi. He pointed out that this e-Market will include a number of big stores in the Kingdom to assure the easy access to all customers especially those residing in remote areas where such big stores have no branches. This will contribute in marketing all craftsmanship of Saudi citizens and residents opening new outlets and markets for them on both the national and international scales, he added. Eng. Majed bin Anzan, General Director of post operations and superintendent over post e-Market, stated that such a project will made benefits of the fruitful inputs and government statistics which refer to vast usage of Internet with an increasing activity of e-Trading in Saudi Arabia during the last few years. Till 2006 December, Internet users in Saudi Arabia reached, as such statistics indicated, 4.8 million while the broad band users reached till 2007 December more than 218 thousand in addition to an increasing ratio of 19% annually in reference to internet usage. Such statistics indicated also that 5 million e-Shopping transactions were made in Saudi Arabia in 2009. He said that Saudi post has been attempting to launch this e-Market to improve its revenues by increasing parcels submitted and opening new commercial perspectives in addition to supporting big stores to market and sell their products electronically. Offering confidential services, such e-Market will be the main platform for e-Trading in Saudi Arabia which is to be operated and maintained by Saudi Post.
