GCC Ministers of  Post, Telecom to meet in Muscat

RIYADH - The Ministerial Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) will hold its 18th meeting on Wednesday in the Omani capital, Muscat.
The ministers will be discussing the Higher GCC Council's decisions, made in its 28th meeting, over hastening joint action between the member states in the post and telecommunications sector and removing all hurdles facing progress in this area, Saudi Press Agency said.
They will also be discussing the Higher GCC Council's emphasis on the negative impact of some media channels on youth, as well as call rates in general, alongside coordinating over tariffs and rates of roaming services within the GCC.
Moreover, they will look into coordinating over use of frequencies among GCC states, taking action against intervention in use of telecommunication services, as well as telecom human resource development and directly linking internet networks.
As for postal services, the ministers will discuss Gulf and international stamp exhibitions, steps taken to introduce the "Gulf Express" service, bulk purchase of postal equipment and material, transportation and customs-related issues, as well as regulations of the Universal Postal Union.
