Eng. Mohamed Jamil Bin Ahmed Mulla, Minister of Communications and IT, in the "Plenipotentiary of the International Telecommunication Union for 2010" held in the city of Guadalajara in Mexico, confirmed that the Kingdom government pays special attention to the telecommunications sector, information technology and information society, and to work on exploiting it to serve the community and development sectors the other, for their effective role in this regard.
This came in His Excellency speech during his participation as head of the Saudi delegation at the Conference, meeting in the city of Guadalajara in Mexico during the period of 4 to 22 October 2010, which was inaugurated by His Excellency the President of the United States of Mexico, Felipe Calderón Ainojosa.
This conference which held every four years is one of the top bodies responsible for setting policies of the International Telecommunication Union and legislation that define the general trends and strategic, financial and executive plans of the Union during the next four years.
His Excellency added that the Kingdom seeks to promote cooperation, regional solidarity and international cooperation in this vital area and to support every effort on this front.
He announced the kingdom's intention to increase financial contributions to the union budget for the next four years by three additional units, bringing the total contributions assessed thirteen unit.
