New e-Services at King Saud University

Dr. Abdullah Alothman, Rector of King Saud University launched yesterday a group of new e-Services on the University's Portal.
At the ceremony held on this occasion, he stated that the newly launched e-Services have reflected the real components of the National Plan which has included the e-Government Program which has enjoyed a keen interest of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to facilitate procedures of citizens.
Such new e-Services are envisioned to improve the Image formulated about universalities in addition to documenting successful expertise of the University to be transferred for the coming generations. They aim also at making the university the first organization in applying the e-Government in Saudi Arabia.
On the other hand, Dr. Youssef Al-Ohali, Dean of e-Government and Communications, confirmed that the Un. News Portal will have competitive potentials and services the same like that of greatest universities all over the world. All news of the university, its colleges and departments will be easily and electronically published through a unified source which is the news web: news.ksu.edu.sa
The visual library service will be one of the prominent projects that depends on web technology 2.0 that adds interaction among the website visitors, he said. This library is a channel containing most components of the visual library that was previously established by the University including lectures, events and parties. This channel will provide the university staff and students with opportunities to publish all scientific and cultural issues they produce within the web site on the link: shasha.ksu.edu.sa
Eng. Abdulaziz Al-Areej, manager of e-Services and Portal Management, confirmed that launching such services has come after deliberations for months. Those deliberations included Seeking the help of specialized experts, using advanced devices to watch eyes movements to get optimal distribution of pages items, and holding many related workshops to organize the structure of the website.
In parallel with these e-Services, other services will be launched such as Forms Formulating on the link: forms.ksu.edu.sa, and CV building through the link: resumes.ksu.edu.sa, he added.
