E-Media: Riyadh - Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Prince Naif Bin-Abdulaziz Al-Saud has approved on Friday the Civil Defense framework plan for the 'hajj' (Muslim pilgrimage) session in 2009. Director General of Civil Defense Lt.-Gen. Saad Al-Tuweijri said in a press release quoted by "Al-Riyadh" newspaper, that the plan outlines the procedures to be followed in case of any emergency in order to protect the safety of all God's guests (pilgrims). Prince Naif, who doubles as chairman of the Supreme Hajj Committee, is very keen on reviewing safety procedures meticulously and ensuring their strict enforcement in cooperation with all concerned departments, Lt.-Gen. Al-Tuweijri pointed out. Al-Tuweijri disclosed that the plan defines 10 kinds of visionary risks and how to deal with them effectively to guarantee the highest possible protection of pilgrims in collaboration with 18 government and non-government organizations, noting that the Saudi Civil Defense has more than 460 fully-equipped centers close to the holy sites in Makkah and Madinah cities. He added that the service follows the modern comprehensive approach which deemed life saving a collective responsibility that should not be shouldered by a single body.
