King orders to postpone start of academic Year
 Jeddah - The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques king Abdullah bin Abdulaziz has issued an order to postpone the start of the academic year, stated the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Accordingly, high school and secondary levels will commence their studies on 21 /10/ 1430H corresponding to 10 October 2009 whereas kindergartens, elementary schools and special needs schools will also postpone their academic year to begin on 28/10/1430H corresponding to 17 October 2009.
The decision was announced on Wednesday following extensive discussions between the ministries of health and education.
The decision was taken based on the timeframe of rolling out educational and training programs for all staff in schools as a precaution against the swine flu disease . The king also ordered the purchase of an additional six million vaccines for students and those most vulnerable to the virus.
