According to Boston Consulting Group e-Intensity Index, the kingdom ranks 39th at the level of the Middle East countries with respect to intensity of internet use. It ranked higher in “enablement” as compared to expenditure and engagement.
U.A.E ranks 26th, making the highest scores in “enablement” followed by “expenditure” and “engagement”. It is interesting to note that Egypt ranked 49th making higher scores in “use” as compared to “enablement” and “expenditure”.
Internet is increasingly taking a local trend due to economic, political and social factors according to the “e-Intensity Index” launched recently by Boston Consultant Group (BCG).
The index gives a more clear picture about the profoundly disseminating digital activities all over the world. It measures e-intensity in the member countries of the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) as well as BRICI emerging economies: (Brazil, Russia, India, China, Indonesia) in addition to some noteworthy economies like Saudi Arabia, Singapore and South Africa. Measurement covered 50 countries.
