KACST deliberates IT role in serving academic sectors and research centers

Riyadh, e-Media: King Abdulaziz City for Sciences and Technology "KACST" organized on Wednesday a workshop to deliberate the role of IT in serving academic sectors and research centers. The workshop was concluded at Intercontinental Hotel in cooperation with the Saudi business Machines LTD to illustrate the role IT can play to service academic sector and research center through enhancing social networks to communicate and exchange information. The workshop threw light on smart education initiatives i.e. IBM, SBM solutions which have been dedicated to academic sector and research centers. All such initiatives have been aimed at enhancing the role of scientific research agencies relating to social responsibility. On the other hand, the workshop discussed a number of successful experiments offered in pioneering academic organizations in the Kingdom in addition to some smart solutions and applications implemented to provide interactive management at scientific research centers. Internet Services supervisor at KACST, Dr. Hisham bin Abbas, appreciated the role played by the City in reinforcing scientific research sector where the Saudi First academic network was established in 2009 aiming at unifying academic and research sectors. He pointed out initiatives and innovative tools made by the City to simplify various activities in fields of academic and scientific research.
