Riyadh -- Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz received here yesterday General Auditing Bureau's President Osamah bin Jaafar Faqih and a number of the bureau's officials.
During the audience, the annual report of bureau for fiscal year 1427/1428 H. was handed to the king, according to SPA.
The bureau's president delivered a speech in which he thanked the king for his support for the role of the bureau and highlighted the content of the report and the bureau's efforts and activities.
Faqeeh lauded King Abdullah’s reform program to improve the performance of government departments. He said the bureau has been focusing on rationalizing public expenditures and better utilization of public money to achieve sustained development in all parts of the Kingdom.
He said the bureau’s annual report for 2007 included results of auditing accounts of various government departments and public corporations.
Faqeeh said, according to Arab News, that many government departments spent money without authority and without issuing bills. He also noticed a lack of follow up on implementation of projects, negligence in applying contract terms and a laxity in generating state revenues. “Some government departments and agencies do not abide by financial and budgetary regulations. They also fail to prepare final account statements on time,” he said and called for greater efforts to collect revenues.
The king thanked all for their efforts and wished them success.
The audience was attended by Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz, Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior, a number of other princes and senior officials.
