Legislation and Regulation of Telecommunications Committee in GCC Countries Holds Meeting in Riyadh

Riyadh.  The 8th meeting of legislation and regulation of telecommunications committee of the GCC countries will be held today at the Secretariat of the GCC in Riyadh.
According to "Alyaum" news paper, the meeting will discuss some issued related to legislation and regulation of telecommunications and information technology, including the decision of the Supreme IT Council at its 30th Session for enhancing the common investment environment  between the GCC countries  and the development of human resources in legislation and regulation of telecommunications and information technology, the Committee will consider the possibility of unifying communication Tariff between the GCC countries or reducing it to be counted as local call .
The Committee will also debate finding an approved plan to restore service between the operators of the GCC countries as soon as possible when there are failures, damages or disasters, and establishing a common database for users with operators in the GCC countries that could be used in settling accounts and billing, etc., and to agree on a mechanism to allow voice over Internet Protocol, and to reduce and standardize tariffs for SMS services and content services, and find a mechanism for the classification and assessment of consultancy services provided by foreign companies.
The Committee will submit its recommendations to the next meeting of the Steering Committee for Communications and Information Technology, which in turn will present them to the meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Post and Telecommunications and Information Technology, which will be held during the month of June this year for adoption.
