Cabinet approves series of regulations

Riyadh- Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired yesterday at Al Yamamah Palace in Riyadh the Cabinet's session. At the outset of the session, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques briefed the cabinet on the discussions, consultations and meetings he made with some leaders and envoys of world countries focusing on events on various fronts.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) following the session, Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Abdulaziz bin Moheiaddin Khoja said that on the regional situation, the Cabinet expressed hope that the visit of George Mitchell, the U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East to the region will lay the grounds for reaching a just and comprehensive peace, and considered his tour in the region as emphasis of the U.S. role in the peace process.
Locally, the Cabinet approved adding a new item No. (14) to the rules governing and control government agencies to receive contributions in cash or in kind, and it authorized the head of donor agency  to name the donor on the project, provided that the donation should  be distinguished in terms of area and capacity, cost and importance and the name should not be repeated in the same place.
The cabinet also passed a series of regulations facilitating the transfer of jobs of people employed by operation, maintenance, catering and cleaning companies in government departments. The cabinet approved that the Labor Ministry will transfer the sponsorship of such workers from previous government contractors to new ones.
In addition to that the state will bear their iqama and sponsorship transfer fees. If a new contractor does not require the workers then it is at liberty to terminate and return them to their home countries, the cabinet allowed GCC citizens to carry out social services.
