Director-General of Passports, Major General Salim bin Mohammed Albelihed inaugurated Tuesday evening a new electronic service provided by the General Directorate of Passports to issue the travel visas for residents through the SMS technology.
Major-General Salim Albelihed said, according to Al-Riyadh newspaper, that this service is one of the most advanced technical service requirements of e-government, allowing citizens and residents into the process of issuing exit & re-entry visas to their workers through mobile phone text messages after being pre-registered in "Ishaar" service.
Albelihed insisted that the General Directorate of Passports seeks to provide all its services electronically including exit & re-entry, final exit, the multiple and extend visas for companies and institutions.
Other applications of electronic services for the individual category will be applied in the near future, in addition to service of notice, and e-service tracks in airports and ports , which has been applied at King Khaled International Airport, and is under way to expand and update the rest of services.
He added that the expansion is done through the opening of four passport offices in Riyadh, two offices in Jeddah, pointing out that the General Directorate of Passports constantly working to provide online services, and facilitate access of beneficiaries to passport services.
