Arab Domains Agreement Between Science and Technology and Communications Authority Signed

Riyadh. An Agreement to Develop Arabic Domain Names Between "KAC for Science and Technology" and Communications and Information Technology Commission was Signed Yesterday.
According to Riyadh daily newspaper, the agreement was signed by Prince dr. Turki bin Saud bin Mohammed Al Saud the Deputy President of KAC of Science and Technology for Research Institutes and Dr. Sulaiman Mirdad the Deputy Governor of the Commission.
The agreement states that KAC of Science and Technology shall together with Commission prepare and execute a number of joint research projects including research, developing applications and program supplements in Domain names. The Commission will determine the research subjects, supervise and provide necessary consultancy service in order to finalize the projects.
This agreement aims to achieve many objectives, whereas the City makes and supports research for application purposes including the use and supporting Arabic in computer and information technology. On the other hand the Commission aims at spreading communication services and also spreading communications awareness and information technology and providing a just organizational atmosphere within all parties that have the capability and technical expertise in computer especially the support for the use of Arabic in Domain Names to achieve the spread of Information Technology in the Kingdom.
