Eng. Mulla patronizes a workshop on PKI: Applications and Integration

Under the patronage of H.E. Eng. Mohamed Jamil Bin Ahmed Mulla, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, a workshop on PKI: Applications and Integration was opened on Tuesday February 22.
The two-day event is being organized by the National Center for Digital Certification (NCDC) at the Riyadh Intercontinental Hotel.
The workshop aims at raising the public awareness about PKI applications, services, and integration tools and solutions, highlighting the resulting added security and the required changes to existing applications in order to utilize NCDC PKI infrastructure and encouraging government agencies and the business sector to start developing PKI-enabled applications.
In his welcoming speech, Dr. Fahad Al Hoymany MCIT Minister advisor and NCDC supervisor general  thanked H.E. the Minister for patronizing this event. He also welcomed speakers and participants from inside and outside the Kingdom. He explained that the workshop mainly focuses on enlightening specialists from the public sector on integration of different applications they have with PKI tools and solutions which NCDC is establishing and managing Kingdom-wide. He added that this would enhance the levels of security and authenticity in business applications at the public sector by the use of what is known as digital certificates and signatures.
The first day of the workshop includes a number of papers and lectures covering the different themes of the workshop. The papers cover, for instance: NCDC infrastructure and business model, Participation in PKI as government/commercial certification service provider, PKI methodologies: PKI-based authentication, digital signature and PKI-based encryption, PKI usage in Title Registration of real estate in Denmark, PKI applications and the market needs, Initiatives on PKI security solutions, role of corporate governance in implementing PKI and PKI solutions using mobile phone.
It is worth noting that a large number of organizations are taking part in this workshop. Among them, for example: The Saudi Arabia Monetary Agency (SAMA), National Information Centre, KSU Center of Excellence in Information Assurance and the e-Government Program (YESSER).
