IBTIKAR 2010 exhibition launched today in Jeddah
Riyadh, SPA:
Under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, the President of King Abdulaziz & His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity "MAWHIBAH", IBTIKAR 2010 exhibition, organized by the Foundation has been inaugurated today in Jeddah.
The five-day exhibition has been organized by the Foundation in cooperation with Saudi Aramco at Jeddah Hilton Hotel.
Prince Faisal bin Abdullah bin Mohammed, the Vice-President of the Foundation, said the patronization of event by the Monarch reflects his keenness on the promotion of innovation and knowledge as well as his keenness on extending support to the innovators and inventors.
The Prince underlined the importance of dependence of the national economy on the qualified human resources and knowledge.
He pointed out that IBTIKAR-2010 represents a distinguished addition to the development march in the country.
Dr. Fouad Al-Awad, General Supervisor over IBTIKAR 2010 pointed out that the exhibition awards values have been raised for this year amounting to S.R one million in addition to other awards granted for best innovations by WIPO, IFIA and the National Center for youth research.
He said that 19 cities and 33 international and local organizations are to participate in the exhibition in addition to Ministries, universities, academic and research organizations and other pioneering corporations.
On the other hand, king Abdulaziz City for Sciences and technology will show at the exhibition the first electronic chip designed by Saudi engineers working at the national program for electronic and communications research. Such a chip which has taken about one year to be produced, is envisioned to tackle operation and control of micro-electromagnetic systems "MEMS".
