E-Media: RIYADH – King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, launched the second construction phase of the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) here Friday. The King was briefed on research centers and future plans during his inspection visit to KACST. The King also toured an exhibition and pavilions of the City’s research institutes, according to SG. King Abdullah was briefed on the objectives, applications of nanotechnology, scientific programs and research projects with the world’s leading universities during a tour to the National Center for Research on Nanotechnology. The King participated in a test to produce a piece of silicon chip through nanotechnology by pressing a button of the laser pulse. He watched some of his photographs printed on the silicon chip through the electronic microscope via Xion technology, the first of its kind in the Middle East. KACST President Dr. Mohammed Bin Ibrahim Al-Suwaiyel presented two satellite photos of Makkah and Madina to the Monarch.
