The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud patronized the finals of the King's Soccer League for Champions held at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium in Jeddah yesterday between the Jeddah-based Al-Ahli and Al-Ittihad.
At the stadium, the monarch was received by Prince Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspection General; Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Governor of Makkah Region; Prince Nawaf bin Faisal bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz, the General President of Youth Welfare, princes, and sports senior officials.
Warm welcome was also accorded to the King by sports fans.
At his arrival between the two halves, the result was zero all.
Then the second half started.
The second half also ended without scoring. The referee gave extra 15-miniute equal halves but neither of the two teams failed to incline. He opted to go to penalty-area kicks.
Al-Ahli won the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Soccer Cup for Champions after beating its rival Al-Ittihad 4-2 in penalty-area kicks.
Following the match, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud handed over the medals and precious trophy to the runner-up and winner teams respectively amid cheering of jubilant spectators and officials.
The monarch was bidden farewell in the same warmth of reception.
Letar, The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Ibn Abdulaziz Al Saud has directed to change the location of the establishment of a stadium from a far area in Jeddah to a near one in the vicinity of King Abdulaziz International Airport and to start quickly the expansion work at the existing Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium in Jeddah.
In a statement to reporters following the King's patronization of The Custodian of The Two Holy Mosques Soccer Cup League Championship in which Al-Ahli beat Al-Ittihad 4-2 at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium in Jeddah last night, Prince Nawaf Ibn Faisal Ibn Fahd Ibn Abdulaziz, President of Youth Welfare Presidency, expressed his thanks to and appreciation of the King for patronizing the soccer match and his attention and care for all citizens' affairs.
