Kingdom to participate in 12th session of AMCT in Yemen

Riyadh - The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA), participates in the 12th session of the Arab Ministerial Council of Tourism (AMCT)  which will be held today and tomorrow (May 27 to 28, 2009) at the Yemeni capital, Sana'a.
The Kingdom's delegation, headed by HRH Prince Sultan Bin Salman Bin Abdul Aziz President of SCTA, will participate in the meetings of the Council of Ministers and Arab tourism officials.
The session will examine a number of topics dealing with enhancement of the performance of the tourism sector in the Arab countries. The session will review the report of the technical secretariat of the council regarding the implementation of the decisions and recommendations of the previous sessions of the council, and the outcome of the Arab summit of economic and social development in the area of tourism, which was held in Kuwait recently.
It will also discuss its executive report and work papers of the competitiveness of Arab tourism, main programs for executing the Arab tourism strategy, which was determined in the last session of the council, and the plan of the security model of tourism. In addition to discussing the impact of the global economic crisis on the Arab region in general, the tourism sector in particular will also be discussed.
The council in this session will finalize the choice of next year's Arab capital tourism, besides reviewing the items of the draft memorandum of understanding between the League of Arab States and the Union of South American countries in the field of tourism, to be signed during the coming period.
