Riyadh - Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz, Vice Governor of Riyadh opened yesterday Investment Horizon Forum 2009 its third edition, at Four Seasons Hotel, Kingdom Centre in Riyadh.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Secretary-General of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Abdurrahman bin Hamad al-Attiyah in his speech delivered by Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Affairs in GCC secretariat , Mohammed bin Obaid Al Mazroui, pointed out the difficult economic challenges globally, noting that GCC states realize the fact of challenges and its dimensions, objectives and mechanisms of work to set up a strategy of joint action through coordination, integration and economic interdependence among its members and to translate visions of GCC states leaders through a variety of strategic economic projects, which began with establishment of a free trade zone and founding customs union and the launch of GCC common market to pave the way for GCC common monetary and currency union.
The forum discussed the role of sovereign investment funds within the global financial crisis, reflections of the global financial crisis on GCC stock markets and the expectations, the opportunities and challenges facing investment banking services at Gulf within the global financial crisis, Islamic banking and finance within the global financial crisis, and foreign trade and growth rates of Gulf economies within the global financial crisis.
