Tourism statistical database launched
Riyadh (SPA) - Prince Sultan bin Salman, president and chairman of the board of directors of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) launched yesterday Tourism Statistical Database of Tourism Information & Research Centre (MAS).
Prince Salman stressed on the importance of Tourism Statistical Database as a tool to enable the tourism sector to perform its developmental roles, and availability of information to tourists, investors and planned economic activities in general in a manner consistent with the electronic approach adopted by the Board in Keep pace with advanced technology.
He explained that this project is an extension of the Authority’s programs in promotion of databases and information on the tourism sector and its effects, it also comes under the Authority’s direction in the transition to the electronic management and use of information technology in line with the directives of the leadership in this regard.
He added that Tourism Statistical Database is among a series of programs and informatics systems that "MAS" provided for workers in the tourism sector and beneficiaries and its implementation of a number of new programs and achievements which were selected by the World Tourism Organization for "MAS" as center for regional capacity building for tourism statistics in the Middle East, establishing of E-database for tourism service providers in the Saudi Arabia, in addition to issuing the Annual Tourism Satellite Account (TSA), which is concerned with the provision of concepts, classifications and the internationally-recognized standards of production and tourism expenditure in the context of a comprehensive and integrated manner.
