E-Media: RIYADH - HRH Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz, Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior presided over the cabinet weekly meeting yesterday at Al Yamamah Palace in Riyadh. Prince Naif briefed the Council on the talks and contacts made by King Abdullah over the past few days, including the telephone call the King received from Egyptian President Hosni Mubark, the message sent to the King by the British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and the visit to Riyadh last week by former US president Bill Clinton. In his statement to Saudi News Agency (SPA) HE Minister of Social Affairs, the deputy Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Yusuf Bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen has pointed out after the meeting that the Council stressed the contents included by the letter of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, before Shura Council on Tuesday, the cabinet appreciated Shura council’s achievements during the last years. The cabinet also called for reactivating a program to combat Rift Valley Fever (RVF) and study the needs of government agencies to face this disease. The cabinet decided to set up a committee to support the mentally ill and their families and to set out national policies regarding the care of psychiatric patients, conduct research, set up special centers to take care of the mentally ill and provide financial support to the patients and their families.
