Saudi research team wins U.S. patent for producing fruit sugar from dates

Riyadh, SPA: A Saudi research team at the Faculty of Engineering of King Saud University has won the U.S. patent for discovering a new method of using dates to produce fruit sugar, it was reported here yesterday. A press release by the university said Dr. Inas Alnashef, Dr. Mohammed Gaily, Dr. Saeed Al-Zahrani and Dr. Ahmed Abasaeed, staff members of the Chemical Engineering Department at the Faculty of Engineering of KSU, have reached a new method to dissociate Fructose from Glucose extracted from domestic dates by using ionic liquid.
