Cairo, SPA:
Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, confirmed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has considered the Palestinian cause as its priority and will continue to do so as this is its frontline foreign policy since the establishment of the Kingdom by late King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud.
Addressing the extraordinary session of the Arab League Council at ministerial level, which kicked off in Cairo earlier yesterday at the headquarters of the Arab League, the Saudi foreign minister told his Arab counterparts and most senior diplomats that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has never derailed or lagged behind in supporting the Palestinian people, using whatsoever possible means to restore the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and get an independent Palestinian state established with full sovereignty on the Palestinian territories within 1967 parallel with East Al-Quds as its capital.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has exerted strenuous and pioneering efforts to achieve victory for the Palestinian people and stood by their side at all international platforms to snatch their legitimate rights, he told the conference, citing Saudi Arabia's historic Arab Peace Initiative proposal in 2002 which stated that the military option has failed to achieve peace or security for either side of the conflict and, instead, establishing fair and comprehensive peace through negotiations is the strategic option.
As the Kingdom vows to support the current efforts and initiatives to push the negotiation wheel forward to reach a fair and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, it confirms that, to make such efforts a success, the matter necessitates that the final goal remains achieving a just solution that guarantees the rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with East Al-Quds as capital, according to the announced frameworks and references.
The Saudi foreign minister pointed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, emanating from its supportive position of the Palestinian Cause and its President Mahmoud Abbas, once again confirms that it stands by the side of the Palestinian people and remains supporting their options to achieve their hopes and aspirations and will remain committed to support the sisterly Palestinian people at all levels, particularly what could be agreed upon by the Palestinian parties and will continue to support their national decisions.
