Kingdom has taken measures to enhance social protection of persons with disabilities

New York, SPA:
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia affirmed that, within the framework of strengthening the social protection of persons with disabilities and achieving the full social integration of this precious group in society, many measures have been taken including the 2002 Law on the Care of Persons with Disabilities.
This came during the kingdom's speech in the general debate in the Third Committee of the item of social development 2019 held at the United Nations Headquarters, which was delivered today by the third secretary of the kingdom's permanent delegation to the United Nations Mohammed bin Essam Khashan.
At the beginning of the speech, the kingdom supported the statement made by the State of Palestine on behalf of the Group of 77 and China.
Khashan said that the Kingdom has completed a comprehensive strategy to deal with poverty pointing out that the Kingdom has allocated $ 9.15 billion from its annual budget for the Citizen Account Program, which is concerned with protecting the low and middle income people from the repercussions of the economic reforms and the current procedures, in addition to the social security allocations.
He highlighted the kingdom's efforts in the fields of economic development, health care, youth support, education and sustainable development.
