The Kingdom launches the initiative to use national databases to track the implementation of the recommendations of international mechanisms as the first Arab country

Riyadh, SPA:
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has launched the initiative to use national databases to track the implementation of the recommendations of international mechanisms with regard to human rights, making it the first Arab country to implement this initiative amid the admiration of nations around the word.
This came during a high-level ceremony, in which the President of the Human Rights Commission (HRC) Dr. Awwad bin Saleh Al-Awwad launched the initiative here today.
During the inauguration ceremony, the President conveyed the greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense to the attendees.
He also extended his thanks to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, and her team for the implementation of the memorandum of understanding between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia represented by the Human Rights Commission (HRC) and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.
He also thanked Natalie Faustet, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for her participation in the ceremony, praising her management and active cooperation in matters of common interest between the Kingdom and the United Nations.
Dr. Al-Awwad pointed out that the adoption of the databases will help the Human Rights Commission to perform its tasks easily, most notably the follow-up of government agencies to implement their respective human rights conventions to which the Kingdom is a party, and the preparation of annual reports on the human rights situations in the Kingdom. It will also contribute to the development of policies and programs to develop human rights awareness and dissemination of culture, including the definition of international human rights conventions.
