Joint Statement Issued at Conclusion of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' Visit to Brunei Dar Al-Salam

Brunei, SPA:
At the conclusion of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud's visit to Brunei Dar Al-Salam, the following joint statement issued yesterday.

At the invitation of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Dar Al-Salam Sultanate, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud paid a visit to Brunei on Saturday 05 Jumada II, 1438H corresponding to March 04, 2017AD.

This important and historic visit reflects the continuous fraternal, friendly and bilateral relations binding the two brotherly countries. This visit coincided with the 30th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Brunei Dar Al-Salam and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Dar Al-Salam held fraternal constructive talks focused on strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries and broadening cooperation in all fields, especially in the fields of trade and investment cooperation, including joint investment opportunities between the two countries.

The two leaders agreed to activate the general agreement signed between the two countries in the fields of economy, investment, education, culture, youth and sports in addition to importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination between the two countries in the political, military and security fields and Islamic Affairs.

The two leaders looked forward that the meeting of the Saudi-Bruneian Joint Committee, to be held this year, serves the two countries and promotes cooperation between the two countries' private sectors.

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Dar Al-Salam praised efforts exerted by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to serve the Two Holy Mosques, pilgrims and Umrah performers and visitors, lauding services accorded to Brunei's pilgrims.

The two leaders exchanged views on regional and international issues, including the latest developments in the Middle East. They stressed the importance of reaching a lasting, comprehensive and just solution to the Palestinian Cause in accordance with the contents of the Arab Peace Initiative and the relevant resolutions of the international legitimacy.

The two leaders also stressed the importance of finding a political solution to the Syrian crisis based on Geneva statement (1) and the UN Security Council Resolution (2254) in addition to importance of providing humanitarian and relief assistance to the Syrian displaced people and refugees.

The two leaders stressed the importance of preserving the unity in Yemen and achieving its security and stability. They also confirmed the importance of a political solution to the crisis in Yemen based on the GCC Initiative, outputs of the National Dialogue Conference and the UN Security Council Resolution (2216), emphasizing their support for the legitimate authority in Yemen as well as access of the humanitarian aid to all Yemeni regions.

The two leaders agreed to coordinate their stances in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to serve the interests of the two brotherly countries and peoples as well as interests of the Islamic nation. They also emphasized the need to reject extremism and combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, whatever its source.

His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Dar Al-Salam expressed his sincere appreciation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for this historic visit.

The Sultan of Brunei decorated the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud with the Royal Family Order for Brunei's Throne which is the highest order in Brunei Dar Al-Salam.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud expressed his thanks to and appreciation of His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Dar Al-Salam for the warm reception and generous hospitality accorded to him and the accompanying delegation.
