Saudi Arabia reaps 3 awards at the GCC e-Government conference and exhibition

Riyadh- e-Media:

Portal of Ministry of Interior, portal of Ministry of Higher Education and  Ministry of
Foreign Affairs e-participation received awards at the GCC e-Government  conference and
exhibition,  version 0.3. Started yesterday at Intercontinental Hotel, Festival City,
Dubai, the event was attended by Sheikh Majed bin Mohamed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum,
chairman of Dubai Culture & Arts Commission.  Delegates of GCC e-Government and
government agencies attended the event.
Sheikh Majed celebrated strategic partners of the event including Bahrain e-Government
Authority, Saudi Arabia e-Government Program, Kuwait Central Agency For Information
Technology, Oman Information Technology Authority, Qatar Supreme Council of Information
& Communication Technology and GCC Planning and Knowledge Economy.
The following winners of the eight category e-Government awards were celebrated:
• The best government portal: Portal of Bahrain Electricity & Water Authority and
portal of Bahrain Ministry of Health.
• The best government service to customers: Remote registering of lawsuits at
Dubai courts and e-voting service offered by Oman Ministry of Interior.
• The best integrated government service to customers: Entry visa and work
residence permit from UAE  Ministry of Interior and Employment Integrated Facilitation
project from Oman Ministry of Human Resources
• The best shared government service: The integrated electronic shop service from
Oman Ministry of Commerce & Industry and the data exchange portal of Oman Ministry of
Higher Education
• The best e-participation practice: “Dubai Court Communicates Electronically” and
“Talk to Masqat” from Masqat Municipality
• The best application compatible to smart devices: “City Guard” application from
Abu Dhabi Center for Electronic and Information Systems and Dubai Electricity & Water
Corporation application compatible to smart devices
• The best electronic initiative: ITA e-inclusion, IT Corporation of Oman,
Identification and Registration of Animals from Abu Dhabi Financial Control Board, UAE
• The distinguished project award was given to “Government Resources Planning
Systems” from Dubai Smart Government and the following projects from Bahrain:
“Electronic issuance of insurance documents for King Fahd Causeway”, “Electronic Payment
National Portal” and “General Directory of Road Traffic Services”.
From Saudi Arabia winners include: Ministry of Interior portal, Ministry of Higher
Education portal and e-participation of Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From Kuwait winners
include: Endowment Secretariat website, “Kuwait Finder” and “Our Environment” portal.
From Oman winners are: (ITA e-inclusion) from IT Corporation. From Qatar winners
include: Qatar Clearance Single Window, Nadeeb, Mitrash 2 and e-School Bag from Ministry
of Education.
After distribution of awards, HH Sheik Majed inaugurated the exhibition that comprises
24 stalls with participants from all GCC countries.
The conference proceedings will be started tomorrow including several workshops and
sessions to discuss important e-Government issues.
