KSA Chairs 20th Meeting of GCC Undersecretaries Responsible for Antiquities and Museums

Riyadh, SPA:
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia chaired the 20th meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Undersecretaries Responsible for Antiquities and Museums, which was held yesterday in Riyadh, in the presence of the CEO of the Heritage Commission Dr. Jasser Bin Suleiman Al-Harbash.
Dr. Al-Harbash said in his speech that this meeting will discuss several important topics related to the development of archaeological work in the GCC countries, adding that "Our countries are distinguished by their historical interdependence and extended civilizations that lived on the land of the Arabian Peninsula and the Arabian Gulf, and we bear the responsibility to protect and highlight this common cultural heritage."
He stressed that the Kingdom is proud of the unlimited support that the national heritage sector enjoys from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and HRH the Crown Prince, and the continuous guidance and support for the activities and projects of the Heritage Commission from the Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Commission, noting that this was reflected in the huge projects that the Kingdom's regions are witnessing in the cultural heritage sector.
The meeting included a discussion of topics on the meeting’s agenda and taking decisions and recommendations accordingly, including reviewing the final statement issued by the Supreme Council at its 42nd session, held on December 14, 2021, in Riyadh, and following up on the decisions of the 19th meeting of GCC Undersecretaries Responsible for Antiquities and Museums.
