MCIT and SAP Launch Training Program to Develop National Digital Capabilities
Riyadh, SPA: The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) launched today a first-of-its-kind specialized training program in collaboration with SAP Global, a market leader in enterprise solutions, that will deepen the Kingdom’s digital talent.
The program comes as part of Saudi Arabia’s ambitions efforts to advance its technology sector and digital economy. The Kingdom is pursuing ambitious plans to further strengthen its position as a regional tech and digital talent incubator hub.
MCIT Vice Minister Eng. Haytham AlOhali and SAP Global officials attended the inauguration of the program in Riyadh. The ministry and SAP signed a memorandum of understanding in February at the global tech conference LEAP in Saudi Arabia, which has now the largest tech market in the Middle East at $42 billion.
The program will develop the skills of more than 55 talented Saudis in basic and emerging technologies that are quickly redefining the future of the world we live in. The program will also teach soft skills needed for senior leadership roles.
Workers from leading companies and institutions will be selected to participate in the program. These include: NEOM, Qiddiya, Diriyah Gate Development Authority, the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Sports, Riyadh Airports, SATORP, KAUST, Solutions by stc, and SEVEN. Top graduates from the Saudi Digital Academy, who are beneficiaries of the MCIT Future Skills Initiative, will also be selected.
The program underscores MCIT’s ongoing effort to support and empower Saudis with state-of-the-art technical experience as well as knowledge of SAP software, which includes data analysis, machine learning, artificial intelligence (AI), metaverse, quantum statistics, and application development using SAP HANA.
The Ministry has targeted the development of digital capabilities in Saudi Arabia as it invests in future projects and encourages innovation, digital entrepreneurship and investments under the ambitious Vision 2030 program.
