Saudi Water Forum continues to discuss water sustainability strategy

Riyadh, SPA:
The Saudi Water Forum, organized by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture under the theme "sustainable water for sustainable development", continued here yesterday for the second day in a row.
Also continuing is the phenomenon of intensive attendance of the event launched yesterday by the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Eng. Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadhli.
The participants were noted to agree on the importance of investment in water and privatization of the sector.
Today's session was titled Strategic Plans and Water Sustainability, which was administered by the ministry's undersecretary for planning and constitutional excellency Hasan bin Yahya Al Hatem.
In a paper, he reviewed the national strategy for water 2030, including the vision of the ministry's water department, focusing on preserving a sustainable water sector that develops water resources, preserve them and safeguard the environment to the highest quality.
He cited water shallowness, weakness of administration and development and increase of water consumption due to increasing economic and population growth as the most challenging factors facing water sector in the Kingdom.
He said the objectives of the water national strategy include supply security, quality and excellency in the service of customers as well as environmental sustainability, economic sustainability and cost management.
