Effective bilateral agreements for recruitment of domestic helpers

Vice minister of labor held a meeting with representatives of more than 30 countries to
review the latest rules and developments in the labor market. The vice minister
signaled the expected arrival of Indian domestic helpers an indicator of effectiveness
of bilateral recruitment agreements. He underscored the attention given by Saudi
government under leadership of King Abdullah to regulating the labor market and maintain
the rights of both contracting parties. Social ease and psychological stability of
workers are top priorities of Labor Ministry. A special online service is dedicated for
domestic helpers to educate them on the rights and responsibilities of both worker and
employer. Moreover, a call center is established by the ministry to receive complaints
from domestic helpers in eight languages.
