King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz Al-Saud issued the following royal decree:

- HRH Prince Khaled Al-Faisal is appointed minister of education
- HRH prince Misha'al bin Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz is appointed governor of Makkah.
