The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud patronized here last evening the giving away ceremony of the 41st King Faisal International Prize for this year 2019.
Upon arrival at Prince Sultan Grand Gallery at Al-Faisaliya Hotel, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques was received by Prince Khalid Al-Faisal bin Abdulaziz, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Governor of Makkah Region, who is also the Executive President of King Faisal Charity Foundation and Chairman of King Faisal International Prize Panel; Prince Turki Al-Faisal bin Abdulaziz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies; Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region; Prince Abdulrahman Al-Abdullah Al-Faisal, Member of the Council of Trustees of King Faisal Charity Foundation; and Prince Bandar bin Saud bin Khalid, Secretary General of King Faisal Charity Foundation.
Following the playing of the royal anthem of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, laureates of King Faisal international prize for this year were graced to greet the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, who congratulated them on each winning a branch of King Faisal International Prize for this year.
Then, a session of memorial photos was held.
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques was, then, briefed on a photo exhibition titled "Salman of Faithfulness". After having taken his seat at the main podium, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the audience listened to selected verses of the holy Quran.
Prince Khalid Alfaisal delivered a statement. The winners of the prize were introduced.
The 2019G (1440H) King Faisal Prize for Islamic Studies (Topic: Studies on the Objectives of Islamic Law) has been withheld due to the lack of sufficiently meritorious nominations.
A presentation on the winners were shown.
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud handed the prizes to the winners.
Service to Islam prize was won by the International University of Africa in Sudan. Arabic Language and Literature prize was awarded to Professor Abdelali Mohamed Oudrhiri and Professor Mahmoud Fahmy Hegazi.
Medicine prize was won by Professor Steven L. Teitelbaum and Professor Bjorn Reino Olsen. Science prize was awarded to Professor Allen Joseph Bard and Professor Jean M.J. Frechet.
The winners expressed their thanks to the Kingdom under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for this honor, expressing their pride in receiving the King Faisal International Prize.
Before leaving the ceremony, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud expressed thanks to Prince Khalid Al Faisal bin Abdulaziz. He said, "I thank Prince Khalid Al Faisal, the son of the hero Faisal bin Abdul Aziz, who brought me with you and I am pleased. This is not strange to Ibn Faisal ".
The ceremony was attended by a number of princes and senior officials.
