SAMA annual report commended the tourism sector contribution to creation of job opportunities.The sector supported 670 thousand jobs in 2011 as compared with 633 thousand jobs in 2010. Projections for 2015 indicate that 841 thousand direct jobs and 421 thousand indirect jobs will be created by the sector. By 2020 the sector is expected to create 1.2 million direct jobs and 591 thousand indirect jobs. 7.6% of the total 8.8 million manpower in Saudi Arabia work in the tourism sector. It employs 9.7% of the total 6.9 million workers in the private sectors.
