Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), confirmed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia comes on top of OIC member countries in terms of women empowerment to enhance economy and development, citing that women have gained a host of reforms and developments, particularly in the field of work.

Everybody witnesses that women have recently assumed leading positions in Saudi Arabia, education and job rates dramatically increased and policies and systems enabling women to occupy more chances adopted, Al-Othaimeen said.
He drew the attention to his organization’s efforts to empower women in the Islamic world, citing the creation of a special unit within OIC secretariat general to take care of this issue, issuing a decision to hold a sectorial conference every two years to discuss women empowerment in the Islamic world and establishing a special prize on women achievements.
