Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman has issued a number of royal decrees announcing new appointments in the leadership and a Cabinet reshuffle.
Crown Prince Muqrin has been relieved from his post on his request and Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Nayef, second deputy premier and interior minister, has been appointed in his place.
Prince Mohammad has also been appointed deputy premier and is keeping his portfolio as interior minister and chairman of the Political and Security Affairs Council.
Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, the defense minister, has been appointed deputy crown prince and second deputy premier in addition to his current portfolio as Minister of Defense and chairman of the Economic and Development Affairs Council.
King Salman asked citizens to pledge allegiance to the two princes today (Wednesday).
Prince Saud Al-Faisal, the long serving foreign minister, has been relieved from his position on his own personal request for health reasons.
He has been replaced by Adil Al-Jubair, Saudi Arabia's ambassador to Washington.
