New York, SPA:
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has affirmed that the Palestinian cause is its first one and any proposed solution, that does not include the right of Palestinians to establish their independent state within the borders of June 4, 1967 with Jerusalem (AlQuds) as its capital, will not succeed.
This came in a speech by the Kingdom at a meeting of the UN Security Council held here yesterday under the agenda item "The situation in the Middle East including the Palestinian question", delivered by the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah bin Yahya Al-Mouallimi.
The Permanent Representative of the Kingdom stated that Israel had clearly failed to fulfill its obligations under the Charter of the United Nations in its continued violations of human rights, stressing that the Kingdom would remain committed to the international legal frameworks represented by Security Council resolutions, and the Arab Peace Initiative. He added that the Kingdom reaffirms the importance of protecting the Palestinian people.
The Ambassador explained that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia affirmed its position on the Syrian Golan as an occupied territory in accordance with Security Council resolutions 242 (1967) and 497 (1981) and rejected any decision to recognize Israel's sovereignty over the Golan.
The Ambassador also added that the Kingdom applauded the United States of America's classification of Iran's Revolutionary Guard and Hezbollah as terrorist organizations, as well as the British decision to classify Hezbollah as a terrorist organization.
