KSA calls on Security Council to restore people’s confidence in international institutions
22 Oct

New York, SPA:
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia appealed  to the United Nations Security Council to ensure commitment to its historic, humanitarian and moral responsibilities, so  that the world would not lose its hope and confidence in international institutions.
This came in the Saudi Arabia' speech which was delivered by Ambassador Abdullah bin Yahiya Al-Mua'lemi, the Kingdom 's permanent representative to the United Nations, before the UN Security Council session designated for routine discussion of the situation in the Middle East.
He said: " While the tragedy of the Palestinian people has been on agenda of the Security Council for more than 60 years,  Israel continues its violation of international laws and denial of the rights of the Palestinian people who are suffering in the absence of a solution of this conflict and failure to translate into reality on the ground the resolutions of the UN that assert the rights of the Palestinian people and the establishment of its State;   a matter that reflects negatively on the entire Middle East region and the international peace and security".
He pointed that Israel is given a free hand to continue its settlement policies, detain thousands of prisoners, violate the sanctity of holy places, displace Palestinians, especially in Al-Quds, and continue its policy of racism and ethnic cleansing  while the Security Council fails to move to assume its responsibilities and put an end to the Israeli occupation,  the only existing occupation in the world after the end of colonial eras and apartheid".
