Gulf states to conduct first joint census

MUSCAT - The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) will conduct the first joint census showing statistics of the six countries simultaneously in April 2010.
Head of the GCC''s Ministerial Committee for Planning and Development, Ahmad Makki said on the sidelines of the committee''s 19th meeting in Muscat that the meeting will crown GCC''s collaborative efforts in the economic and social domains.
After that Mr. Makki inaugurated a website for the GCC census on the world wide web.
He added that the census will support the implementation of comprehensive planning policies, as well as conducting comparisons between GGC''s economic forces with other economies around the world which will boost the development process in the GCC.
