Medina, e-Media:
The Islamic University in Medina has hosted at its headquarter the annual 10th conference for Distance Education Executives Committee from Universities and Academic Organizations in GCC.
Dr. Mohamed bin Youssef Afifi, Dean of Distance Education at the University pointed out that the conference has been envisioned to achieve knowledge sharing and enhance coordination and partnership among GCCs in the field of Distance Education. He said that it is also planned to illustrate main joint work of the Committee including how to simplify its work-flow and establish an appropriate mechanism to follow up and evaluate Distance Education programs. Attended by 28 participants and lasting for 2 days, the conference, he added, has been discussing setting up electronic databases, finding new channels for information and expertise interchange in addition to pushing GCC Distance Education Organizations to establish specialized centers. Generally speaking, the conference attempts to activate the Committee's objectives through a five-perspective approach represented by academic, technological, and administrative pivots in addition to one pivot about students and another about Community Service.
